Our Solar System

This is a model of the solar system made with Three.js and WebGL. This project was made out of a passion for astronomy and space exploration.

This project features a simple yet beautiful atmospheric model, photo-realistic rendering for a few solar system bodies, first-person roaming, collision checking and many more!

It was inspired by the "Pale Blue Dot", a photograph of planet Earth taken in 1990 by the Voyager 1 spacecraft from a distance of approximately 6 billion kilometers away.

Girl in a jacket

"If you look at it, you see a dot. That‘s here. That’s home. That‘s us. On it, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever lived, lived out their lives. The aggregate of all our joys and sufferings, … every saint and sinner in the history of our species, lived there on a mote of dust, suspended in a sunbeam." - Carl Segan
